Missouri Senator Called for Trump Assassination
Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal on a Facebook post called stated “I hope Trump is assassinated”. State officials on both sides of the isle are calling for resignation or removal. Chappelle-Nadal has stated she will not resign or apologize.
If you’re torn on this or having issues deciding on what should happen, let me help you, she should resign immediately, and if not proceedings to remove her from office should begin immediately. Had someone said this about Obama we’d want their head.
In fact in 2016 former Illinois Congressman called for violence against Obama and Black Lives Matter activists and was condemned across the board (by the left), but since he was a former congressman, there was nothing to fire him from. Some argued he should have been arrested by the Secret Service, but nothing came of it.
My point is, our civil servants should have enough respect for their own position to not wish harm upon others in a similar position. Trump and his administration may be a complete dumpster fire fueled by white supremacy and ineptitude, but calling for assassination and or death cannot be tolerated.
I need to believe that our elected officials and public servants are smarter than this… It gets harder by the day.
Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens says the state senate should remove Democratic Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal from office if she refuses to resign.
Chappelle-Nadal has already said she has no intention of resigning and has refused to apologize for a Facebook post in which she wrote: “I hope Trump is assassinated!”
“Senator Chappelle-Nadal said she hopes the President is killed. Republicans and Democrats have called on her to resign,” Greitens wrote. “Her response: ‘Hell no.’ Last night, in an interview, she refused to apologize–twice. If she will not resign, the Senate can vote to remove her. I believe they should.”
Both Democratic and Republican leaders have called on Chappele-Nadal to resign.
“All sides need to agree that there is no room for suggestions of political violence in America — and the Missouri Democratic Party will absolutely not tolerate calls for the assassination of the President,” said Stephen Webber, the chairman of the Missouri Democratic Party.
U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill also weighed in on the controversy brewing in her home state, calling Chappelle-Nadal’s statement “outrageous” and saying she “should resign.”
So far, though, Chappelle-Nadal has given no indication that she plans to step down.
